Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an experienced Outage Scheduler (Control IV) to support our Power Generation Energy Facilities. In this critical role, you’ll develop, coordinate, and maintain outage schedules that keep our operations reliable, safe, and optimized.
Effective communication is essential in this role. The Scheduler works closely with Coordinators and Planners who are responsible for creating and updating work orders, developing and revising standard job plans, and maintaining the preventive maintenance (PM) database. This includes reviewing and correcting job estimates for repeatable tasks, closing schedules, and evaluating close‑out comments for follow‑up actions, building and updating bills of materials, and generating reports.
The Scheduler ensures alignment across these activities to support daily operations and maintain accurate, efficient scheduling processes. To be successful in this role, you bring a strong combination of technical knowledge, scheduling expertise, and leadership skills.
Develop and manage outage schedules using Maximo, MS Project, and/or Primavera, ensuring efficient coordination of manpower, equipment, and materials
Create, update, and oversee schedules based on equipment status, workforce availability, and critical business needs
Collaborate daily with Planners, Coordinators, Engineers, Supervisors, and maintenance personnel to confirm work scope, job plans, and resource needs
Ensure proper work order flow—creation, updates, job plan revisions, PM database accuracy, and schedule close‑out reviews
Maintain thorough communication across operations to verify potential problem areas and ensure alignment on maintenance priorities
Participate in special projects, committee work, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support safe working practices and compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements in energy facilities
Coordinate and schedule all outage-related work with attention to safety, cost, and operational efficiency
Interface effectively with peers and CSU departments to ensure consistent work practices and shared knowledge
Apply a strong understanding of facility operations, equipment, maintenance practices, and disassembly/reassembly procedures
Work with contractor craft personnel and equipment manufacturer representatives as needed
Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy and professionalism
Relevant experience in an energy facility or equivalent maintenance environment is required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar preferred
Advanced certifications valued (e.g., AACE CCP/CEP, ASPE, PMI)
Proven success in producing multi‑disciplinary schedules and improving QA/QC standards
Demonstrated experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Proficiency in Maximo, CMMS tools, MS Project, and Primavera.
Strong understanding of Preventive, Predictive, and Condition‑Based Maintenance
Skilled in Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; experience with data analysis and cost benchmarking
Solid understanding of O&M budgets
Knowledge of equipment functions, uses, and capabilities
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
