Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance (or higher)
Travel Required: Up to 10%
Launch Tech is seeking a Lead System Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This senior role leads complex systems engineering efforts across the full lifecycle of the MDSEA program, including requirements analysis, architecture development, design, testing, implementation, and sustainment. The Lead System Engineer will guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensure mission-aligned execution, and serve as a functional manager and mentor across the enterprise.
WhatYou’ll Do Systems Engineering & Project Management
Perform systems engineering and project management activities including:
- Requirements analysis
- Scheduling
- Documentation and traceability matrix development
- Preliminary design
- Critical design
- Detailed design
- Test and evaluation
- Research and development
- Implementation and fielding
- Sustainment and operations across the MDSEA lifecycle
Scope and execute:
- Studies
- Analysis
- Detailed requirements definition
- System engineering
- Preliminary and detailed architecture designs
- System development for:
- Enterprise Services
- Satellite ground systems
- Operations centers and supporting facilities
Maintain alignment and provide support to Team Leads for:
- Infrastructure
- Networks
- Integration
- Logistics plans
- Cybersecurity and physical security protection plans
- Cost and schedule estimates for space capability development, fielding, tests, and operations
- Perform impact assessments of customer requests
- Develop and present briefings for internal customers and external stakeholders
- Coordinate across the MDSEA environment and supported tenants
- Ensure MDSEA products, services, and capabilities are delivered to customers
- Validate and verify documentation of MDSEA enterprise solutions
- Provide mentorship for junior and mid-level System Engineers
- Serve as manager and functional lead for:
- MDSEA System Engineers
- MDSEA Ground System Engineers
- Dev Sec Ops teams
- Must have 12, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience (may be reduced with completion of advanced education)
- Must have 6, or more, years directly related to the support or management of IT systems in a systems engineering or architecture role/capacity within a DoD and/or commercial enterprise
- Must have 2, or more, years directly leading and managing systems engineers within a DoD and/or commercial enterprise
- Must have subject matter expertise in systems engineering within a virtualized and highly containerized environment
- Must have working knowledge of:
Linux and Windows systems administration, Storage management, Effective database management techniques, Project management - Must have an active Secret Clearance
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Have documented experience developing and editing Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) products for major space and IT systems
- Have extensive experience and working knowledge in both ballistic missile defense and space applications/systems
