General ResponsibilitiesThe Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) plays a vital role in bringing access, advocacy, and innovation to students who are low vision, or deafblind across Colorado. The TVI provides instructional support, assessments, and guidance to children and families from birth through age 21, collaborating with school districts, BOCES, and families to build inclusive learning environments.
Job Functions- Provide standards‑based instruction and assessments aligned with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
- Prepare lesson plans, adapt instructional materials, and facilitate learning across onsite, virtual, and community‑n
- Serve as a member of multidisciplinary teams to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate student objectives.
- Coordinate effectively with educational staff and families to support student success and program goals.
- Manage referrals, track caseloads, document service delivery, and maintain communication with contracted districts and BOCES.
- Provide student notes progress reports, and updates to contracted districts, BOCES, and families throughout the service period.
