Part Time - Museum Education - Recreation Assistant I
At the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM), our mission is to commemorate and preserve the cultural richness of the Pikes Peak region. In this role you will energize our youth, family, and adult programs and help deepen the community’s connection to its history.
Position OverviewThis is a part‑time, .75 full‑time position with benefits averaging 30 hours per week. The typical schedule is Tuesdays through Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with additional hours scheduled as needed. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Terms- This position is subject to budget‑required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year and any subsequently approved furloughs.
- Develop and lead instructional programs by assisting with research, planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of age- and ability-appropriate programs:
Family Fun Days, Yearly Festivals, K‑12 School Programs, Little Learners Preschool Program, and Teen Junior Docent Program. - Guide museum tours and walking tours.
- Provide training support for museum volunteers.
- Organize supplies and maintain program spaces.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Ability to plan and lead programs for a variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of child developmental stages and positive behavior management skills.
- Ability to take a leadership role in training and educational activities.
- Ability to prioritize, think independently, problem‑solve, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
- One year of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
- Possess, or obtain within three months of employment, a CPR certification and First Aid certification.
- Completed at least one semester of college‑level coursework in education, history, anthropology, or a related field.
- At least one year of volunteer or professional experience in a related field.
- Experience leading interpretive activities in a museum setting.
- Experience developing and leading early‑childhood programs.
- Knowledge of the cultural history of the Pikes Peak region.
