Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

Salary/Pay RangeGenerally starting at $73,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt from FLSA overtime provisions.

We are seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Biochemistry with demonstrated experience working with undergraduate and graduate students (master’s level). The candidate will establish a productive research program, secure internal and external funding, and mentor students. The person will teach core and upper‑division biochemistry lecture courses and newly developed courses, and participate in service activities.
Essential Functions- Teach biochemistry lecture and/or laboratory courses (in‑person and possibly online) with other courses possible.
- Establish a productive research program in biochemistry or a closely related field, including publishing research results.
- Secure internal and external research funding.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate research students.
- Engage in service activities to the department, the college, and the campus.
- Standard teaching load is 15 contact hours per 9‑month academic year. Normal workload: 40% teaching, 40% research, 20% service.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field required.
- Post‑doctoral training of at least 1 year required.
- Strong teaching aptitude preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain a productive research program preferred.
