Heavy Equipment Operator, Site Manager
Timberline Building Systems specializes in general contracting, site infrastructure, stormwater management, and erosion control. As a Crew Leader, you’ll oversee daily jobsite operations, coordinate tasks with your team, and ensure projects are completed on time and up to company standards. The right candidate will have strong experience in concrete installation (such as flatwork, curbing, setting forms, mixing, pouring, and finishing) and be confident operating construction and landscaping equipment including skid steers, mini-excavators, trenchers, and other related machinery.
Duties & responsibilities:- Lead daily operations on construction job sites including concrete work, excavation, grading, installation of drainage systems, culverts, ponds, small structures, and other site civil elements
- Review engineering drawings, site plans, and specifications with Superintendent to ensure proper execution and compliance with local codes and safety standards
- Participate in pre-job planning to coordinate equipment, labor, and materials needed for civil projects
- Manage a field crew of 2–6 members, including laborers and operators, and direct daily tasks for safe, productive work
- Ensure high-quality installation of civil infrastructure including stormwater systems, subgrade prep, rebar placement, and formwork
- Monitor site safety, enforce OSHA and company safety policies, and maintain clean, safe work areas
- Accurately track and report crew hours, equipment usage, and material deliveries
- Identify issues proactively and resolve field challenges related to utilities, site conditions, or plan discrepancies
- Communicate clearly with Superintendent, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders
- Coach and mentor crew members, training them on best practices in civil construction
- Assist in jobsite documentation, daily logs, and continuous improvement feedback
- Cross-train and support other departments or seasonal services as needed (e.g., snow removal)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate client needs
- This position requires consistent lifting of up to 75 pounds and walking long distances daily
- Walking, bending, twisting, reaching, crawling, stretching, and standing on occasion is required
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, crawling, stretching, stooping, and standing
- 2+ years leading crews on civil construction, concrete work, or light infrastructure projects
- 2+ years operating equipment including, Skid Steers, Front End Loaders, and/or excavators
- Strong understanding of drainage systems, stormwater management, site grading, erosion control, and concrete work
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting civil and construction plans
- Comfortable using lasers, grade rods, trench boxes, and operating light to mid-sized construction equipment
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to problem-solve and adapt in the field with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy:
Able to use job-tracking or reporting software (training provided) - Valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work in variable weather and physical site conditions
Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Equipment operation certifications (mini-excavator, skid steer, etc.)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- First aid/CPR certification
