Position Summary
in Collaborative is seeking a qualified Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities under a federal contract. The SSHO serves as key personnel and is responsible for implementing, managing, and enforcing all site safety and health programs to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, EM 385-1-1, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The proposed SSHO is subject to Federal Government (KO) review and approval and may not assume SSHO responsibilities until approval is received.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the designated Site Safety & Health Officer for all O&M activities under the task order
- Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety and health programs
- Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and contract safety requirements
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safety inspections
- Identify hazards and develop effective mitigation and control measures
- Monitor field activities for compliance and correct unsafe conditions
- Lead safety meetings and provide safety training as required
- Maintain safety documentation, reports, and records
- Support incident investigations and corrective action planning
- Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and government representatives regarding safety matters
- OSHA 30-hour training certificate or training card
- (Course completion certificate acceptable if within 90 days and card has not yet been issued)
- Minimum five (5) years of continuous safety experience supervising or managing safety in general industry, construction, or O&M environments
- Demonstrated experience managing safety programs or processes, conducting hazard analyses, and developing controls
- Documentation showing a minimum of eight (8) hours of formal safety and health-related training per year for the past five (5) years
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to a U.S. military installation
- Ability to pass background check and any site access requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting federal contracts
- Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and USACE safety standards
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CHST, CSP, ASP, STS)
- This position is considered Key Personnel under the contract
- Resume and qualifications are subject to Federal Government review and approval
- Candidate may not perform SSHO duties until approval is received
