What You'll Do- Coordinate patient care from pre‑op through post‑op, ensuring a seamless surgical experience.
- Provide expert‑level, age‑specific nursing care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Accurately document patient care, assessments, and responses to treatment.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying potential interactions or incompatibilities.
- Serve as an Orthopedic Surgery Support Nurse, offering specialized expertise in orthopedic patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, recovery, and ongoing care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote patient wellness and injury prevention.
- Active RN license in Virginia.
- BSN or MSN preferred. All RN’s must enroll and complete a BSN program within 5 years.
- BLS, ACLS certification (as required for role).
- Previous experience in orthopedic, perioperative, or surgical nursing is a plus.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

Clinical Nurse I, II, III responsibilities include delivering direct, age‑specific care and ensuring accurate documentation, safe medication administration, and patient education. Clinical Nurse III also assumes leadership responsibilities and serves as a role model.
Licensure, Certification, and Registration Requirements (Hire)- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
- Current RN licensure in Virginia.
- AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent.
- Clin I: N/A.
- Clin II: 12–24 months RN experience.
- Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience.
- Clin I:
Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in an acute care setting or applicable area. - Clin II & III:
Academic Health Care Experience; experience with similar patient population in acute care or applicable area.
- Clin I, II, III:
Diploma or Associate’s Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state board. - All RNs without a Bachelor’s degree must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of start date and complete within five years unless grandfathered.
- Clin I, II, III:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program. - Clin III:
Certification in specialty area.
- Lifting 20–50 lbs.
- Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
- Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, listening, speaking, writing.
- Fast‑paced, steady‑pace environment; handle multiple priorities; frequent customer interactions; noisy environment.
