Material Handler I – Parts Control
Location:
South Chesterfield, VA
Position Summary:
The Material Handler I – Parts Control position will be responsible for working cooperatively as part of a production team to handle production parts, racks, carts, baskets, picking painted parts, maintaining paint queue lines, locale, replace, or procure lost, damaged or missing parts and deliver to assembly lines & production areas as assigned by Supervisor or Department Manager.
What you will be responsible for in this role:
- Completes daily activities in the work area to ensure daily production goals are met.
- Assures all parts and part numbers are properly scanned into or out of AS400.
- Properly documents part movement into and out of assigned inventory control storage locations.
- Safely moves parts, components, raw material stick and finished goods manually or with various work aids.
- Assists in the identification of parts and part descriptions using work order information.
- Reads, understands, and follows Customer Case Build requirements communicated on the A-Order/Work order.
- Sets an example for proper use of all safety equipment and apparel.
- Understands and follows all basic safety procedures.
- All other duties assigned.
Basic qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a minimum of 12 months experience
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills
- Must have accurate data entry skills
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms the majority of the work day
- Must be able to sit, stoop, and/or kneel the majority of the work day
- Be able to stand and walk for the majority of the work day
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
To be a great fit for the role:
- Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, AS400
- Have good teamwork and communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Are able to work with machine operators, mechanics, contractors, drivers and/or vendors.
- Ability to plan and organize and to set priorities in order to meet deadlines and ensure customer satisfaction
- Have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Are able to follow instructions and exercise good judgment.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have organizational and time management skills.
- Willing to work extended hours when required.
