LIFEGUARD

Seasonal position. Mid‑April through Mid‑September with hiring and training beginning as early as December.

Lifeguards ensure a safe and fun environment for all park guests while consistently enforcing rules and watching their designated water zones. Lifeguards respond in an emergency and provide care within the scope of their training.

Minimum qualifications:

• 16 years of age or older OR 15 years of age with a worker’s permit
• Lifeguard certification from Star Guard Elite
• Star Guard Elite Lifeguard Certification (SGE) must be earned through the City of Collinsville at no cost to the employee and include passing all in‑water skill tests, CPR, and a written test
• Flexible scheduling that accommodates mornings, evenings, weekends, and summer holidays
• Ability to work effectively with supervisors, staff, and guests
• Ability to act quickly and competently during emergencies
• Dependable attendance for regular shifts and in‑services

• Familiarity with aquatics, swimming, and/or swim lessons
• Team‑oriented with positive, can‑do attitude

• Ability to walk, run, stand, sit and complete a variety of motor skills
• Ability to walk and/or stand on concrete for the majority of the shift
• Ability to bend to the floor and reach overhead
• Ability to lift and carry 30–70 pounds regularly to chest height
• Ability to hear and see well

• Exceptional punctuality and attendance
• Positive attitude, manner, and appearance
• Clear thinking and appropriate emergency response
• Mature judgment and ethical behavior
• Reading, writing, and performing mathematical equations
• Limited supervision and multitasking ability
• Knowledge, critical thinking, judgment, and problem‑solving skills for handling situations
• Conflict resolution that is fair, safe, and timely

• Staggered shift assignments including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Work in hot, cold, wet, and/or other unpleasant outdoor conditions
• Work in a loud, fast‑paced environment

This position is $15.25 per hour.
