ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
? Performs and assists in a wide variety of general maintenance activities such as roofing, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
? Performs and assist in a wide variety of grounds activities such as leaf, limb, and tree removal, asphalt patching, snow and ice removal, and other landscaping tasks.
? Assist in installing system component parts, classroom and office equipment, and facility components such as lighting, HVAC systems, alarms, plumbing, hardware, security, electrical panels, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
? Utilizes a truck and trailer to deliver a variety of maintenance equipment and supplies.
? Serves as a Schools? Plant Manager as needed.
? Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner.
? Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
? Maintain inventory of district owned tools, equipment and materials.
? Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and remove scraps and materials as needed.
? Work with building principals, plant managers, maintenance workers, and supervisors to complete projects.
? Responds to all emergency calls as needed.
? Use a lap top computer, IPad, or other handheld device to receive and complete work orders.
? Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Chief of Operations or Designee.
? The General Maintenance Technician position is a 12-month position support/classified position. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions determined by the Human Resources Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
? A high school diploma or equivalent
? A valid Tennessee Driver?s License with a good driving history
? A minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance and operation of buildings
? Prior trade experience in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC preferred
? Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others
? Proficient in the use of computers to include word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
? Reliable transportation and communication required
? Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Data Utilization:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, plans, sketches, architectural drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.

Requires the ability to provide guidance, effective supervision, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization:
Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude:
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude:
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
Functional Reasoning:
Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise…
