Prepares design specifications, mechanical drawings, test specifications and technical reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Develops new products that meet and/or exceed established criteria through the use of a phased‑gate NPD process.
- Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments throughout the entire NPD process.
- Assembles prototype and pilot units to ensure design intent is met and makes changes where necessary prior to production launch.
- Makes decisions as required to keep development projects on schedule and to implement changes to existing products where necessary.
- Ensures that engineering deliverables comply with department/corporate procedures and applicable regulations and standards where applicable.
- Actively participates in cost reduction projects via component redesign and/or process improvements.
- Ensures that NPD process is being followed and documented according to established procedures.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software necessary – Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems extremely beneficial.
- Understanding of residential and commercial building codes and standards beneficial.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related but not limited to sheet metal, machining and welding necessary.
- Ability to work successfully with associates at all levels within the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited four‑year college or university. At least seven (7) years related experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
