STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe Accountant will be responsible for financial closing, financial reporting, general accounting, and other various accounting functions such as month end, quarter end and year end closings, assist with preparation of monthly financial statements, journal entries, arrange chargebacks, notifications, reports and account reconciliations. These tasks are to be completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state and local laws and regulations.
The position will work with the organization at all levels to gather information, produce various reports and ensure compliance with all corporate financial reporting requirements.
The qualifications/position requirements identified below list the skill level, ability, and knowledge required to successfully performing the essential duties of the position. - Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Masters Degree is a plus.
- Must have 5-8 years experience in an accounting role
- Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) as well as General Leger software systems
- Able to prioritize work and meet project deadlines
- Able to read/analyze financial related data and/or reports
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and data-manipulation skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a Union environment preferred
- Able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures
- Capable of functioning in a multi-task environment
- Commitment to Safety
