** Texas A&M’s Biology Department is looking for a
** Research Technician**, who under general supervision performs entry‐level, semi‐skilled technical research support involving routine tasks. This position will assist with ongoing and expanding research projects involving gene‐edited cavefish and Drosophila.
** Opportunities to Contribute
*** Assembles, operates, and maintains laboratory and technical equipment, including updating laboratory computers and providing logistical support with computer systems.
* Maintains laboratory spaces in compliance with OSHA standards, performs routine clean‐up of labs and prep rooms, and manages inventory by ordering necessary parts and supplies.
* Assists senior staff with major field experiments and contributes to developing procedures as needed.
* Supports the research participant pool by recruiting, screening, and maintaining participant records, and assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
* Participates in training and professional development sessions as required.
** Qualifications
* ** High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Two years of related experience.
* Ability to lift and/or move medium weight objects.
** A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
*** Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
