General Purpose

Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific assigned area, general operations, and supervision as Manager on Duty.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

  • Safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintain high awareness on sales floor and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for building security, entrance control, EAS daily checks, cash office, armored carrier pick-ups.
  • Remove clutter and ensure safe egress.
  • Customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems and respond to after‑hour alarms when requested.

Customer Service

  • Treat all customers, associates, leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, professionalism and recognize associates using company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain professional appearance and ensure all associates adhere to dress code.
  • Keep all areas clean, well maintained and merchandised to standard and responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

  • Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, following up.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Help deliver and place merchandise on sales floor when all merchandise processed.
  • Responsible for ensuring any back‑stock secured and processed to company policy.
  • Responsible for merchandising of department including the back stock.
  • Responsible for reduction of loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance to the monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
  • Responsible for floor moves and signing including promotional signing as needed.
  • Responsible for re‑wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

  • Understand and comply with loss prevention awareness program and responsible for store loss prevention.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers. Safeguard confidential, cash and credit card information and merchandise.
  • Ensure Public View Monitor system maintained properly.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.

Front End Supervision and Operations

  • Execute all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches when working. Ensure associates are executing to company standards at the front end.
  • Maintain pace, energy and “presence” at the front end, manage line to expedite customer wait time.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards.
  • Control associate break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment working properly.
  • Maintain proper supplies and recovery for front end area.
  • Ensure go backs expedited, properly scanned, security tagged and ticketed.
  • Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on front end, aisle tables, men’s/women’s 4‑way features and specialty racks.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements

Ability to use all store equipment; stand, walk, move up to 100% of time; bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, stoop; occasionally push, pull, lift more than 25 lb.
