Summary

The Catering Prep Chef supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, assembling dishes, and ensuring all food is event-ready. This role focuses on efficient, high-quality food preparation, organization, and packaging for off-site catering events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion ingredients for catering menus, including meats, vegetables, sauces, and sides
  • Follow event-specific prep lists and recipes to ensure consistency and quality
  • Assist chefs in cooking, assembling, and packaging menu items for transport
  • Label and organize food according to event and delivery schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, coolers, and storage spaces
  • Ensure all food is stored, handled, and transported according to food safety standards
  • Help load catering vehicles and confirm all items are packed securely and correctly
  • Monitor inventory of ingredients and supplies; report shortages to the Head Chef or Catering Manager
  • Support event setup or service as needed during large or high-volume events
  • Assist with cleanup and restocking after events
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Prep Cook or Kitchen Assistant (catering experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of food prep techniques, portioning, and safe food handling
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately under time constraints
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification (as required by local regulations)
  • Physical ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods
Work Schedule

Hours vary based on event schedule; may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation
