Research Scientist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Overview
The laboratory of Dr. Dmitry Kurouski at Texas A&M University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow or a Staff Member with experience in protein biophysics. We expect to find answers to several key questions in amyloid biology:
How do lipids alter the secondary structure of amyloid oligomers and fibrils?
Why are protein aggregates formed in the presence of lipids exhibiting drastically different cell toxicity?
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate should have strong knowledge of protein expression and purification, experience working with eukaryotic cells, and a good understanding of biochemistry. The candidate should be able to learn biophysical methods used by our group to determine the morphology and secondary structure of protein aggregates, including nano-Infrared spectroscopy and AFM.
BenefitsThe Postdoctoral Fellow or a Staff Member will receive an NIH-level salary and all benefits of Texas A&M University. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to develop their own research projects, learn and advance molecular methods of analysis and spectroscopic skills.
LocationThe laboratory is located in the main campus of Texas A&M University (College Station, TX). We are around 2-2.5 hours away from Houston, Dallas and Austin.
