We are seeking a Lab Coordinator to support research on the role of nutrition in the regulation of muscle growth. The role works with the Principal Investigator (Pl), Postdoctoral Fellows, and technical staff to investigate the effects of premature birth and dietary interventions on protein synthesis, intracellular signaling, and metabolism. The Coordinator plans, completes, and occasionally supervises research projects in accordance with the general plans approved by the PI.
ResponsibilitiesAnimal Research and Laboratory Work
- Conduct animal research studies using neonatal pig models, including surgical procedures, husbandry, clinical care, and specimen collection.
- Perform analytical work on collected specimens using biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques to assess protein synthesis, nutrient signaling, and cell growth.
- Execute cellular and molecular assays such as Western blotting, ELISA, and RT-qPCR for quantifying protein and gene expression.
- Conduct biochemical assays including colorimetric, fluorometric, and HPLC-based methods.
Data Management and Documentation
- Document experimental procedures accurately.
- Analyze and summarize data from research studies to support findings and publications.
Laboratory Operations and Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee daily lab activities, provide staff support and ensure quality control.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure lab safety and efficiency.
- Maintain lab supplies, research equipment, and software systems.
- Schedule and prepare lab space for research sessions, including protocol drafting and coordination with IT support.
- Recruit, screen, and manage participant pools for studies.
- Ensure adherence to lab standards and best practices to promote a safe and effective working environment.
- Collaborate with lab personnel and assist with long-term organizational planning and improvements.
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned to support research and operational goals.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.

- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
- Ability to identify, assess, and solve problems.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in science.
- Experience in laboratory and animal research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements
- Ability to lift or move light, moderate, and heavy objects. Ability to exert light force.
- Work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends as needed.
