Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Kirbyville, TX, for a Forestry Nursery Operations Coordinator - Seed Orchards. The role involves managing daily operations of seed orchards, coordinating staff activities, overseeing seed collection and processing, and maintaining records related to operations. The individual will monitor the health and productivity of trees, ensure proper care and maintenance of orchard facilities, and collaborate with other forestry professionals to support conservation and reforestation initiatives.
Administrative tasks and collaborative efforts with internal and external stakeholders will also be a key component of the role.
- B.S. in Forestry, Horticulture or related agricultural science
- Two (2) years seed orchard experience
- Pertinent required skills include grafting (pine and hardwood) and control-pollination.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with team members, stakeholders, and management
- Experience in seed orchard operations, including overseeing daily activities and ensuring efficiency
- Proficiency to maintain accurate records and handle organizational tasks
- Background in forestry, agriculture, or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of seed orchard management practices and silviculture is a plus
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform physical tasks as required
Starting salary will be $61,000 per year for those applicants with a minimum of a B.S. in Forestry, Horticulture or related agricultural science and two years of seed orchard experience but adjusted accordingly for additional education or work experience.
