Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Neonatal ICU position requiring a TX or compact RN license and proficiency with advanced neonatal care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level III NICU with 13 private rooms within an acute care hospital

• Patient population includes premature infantsweeks), PPHN, hypoglycemia, and those needing respiratory support; cardiac and surgical cases are transferred out

• Most nurse to patient ratios are 1:2, with occasional 1:1 and 1:3 for feeder grower infants, following AWHONN guidelines

• Delivery attendance and newborn admissions required, with expectation to assist with Mother Baby unit as needed

• Utilizes advanced equipment including NC, HFNC, bubble CPAP, vents, NIPPV, chest tubes, UVC, UAC

• Uses MEDITECH EMR system

• Schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; self-scheduling with manager balancing; occasional floating to day shift may be required

• No call or standby requirement; may float to assist Mother Baby staff or take assignments of up to 6 infants as resource

• Responsible for providing advanced care to critically ill neonates, attending high-risk deliveries, and assisting with newborn care and procedures

• Expected to support Mother Baby staff with lab work, observation, and newborn assignments as necessary

• Charge nurse is present on unit and takes an assignment

• Neonatology provider is in house 24/7; no nurse aides on the unit

• Staff must wear navy scrubs per dress code

• Holiday coverage is on a rotating basis with core staff

• Candidates may not have worked directly (FT, PT, PRN) for any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year (outside PRN through agencies is acceptable)

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

• Current BLS, NRP (advanced), and STABLE certifications must be up to date prior to starting

• Minimum of 2 years Level III or IV NICU RN experience

• Proficiency required in advanced neonatal procedures: NC, HFNC, bubble CPAP, ventilators, chest tubes, UVC/UAC, and care for ELBW infants

• Delivery/NICU admit experience highly preferred

• Must provide two references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and another supervisor or peer from the last 3 years

• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
