Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement

• May occasionally be asked to work day shifts

• Schedules posted 2 weeks in advance with 6-week scheduling blocks

• Self-scheduling available but balanced by manager

• Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required

• Must be proficient with NC, HFNC, BCPAP, vents, chest tubes, UVC, UAC, and ELBW infants

• Delivery experience highly preferred

• Required certifications: BLS, NRP-advanced, STABLE (must be current before start)

• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: typically 1:2, occasional 1:1, feeder grower infants 1:3

• Work with Level III NICU with 13 private rooms

• Care for premature infants (25-34 weeks), PPHN, hypoglycemia, and respiratory support cases

• Attend deliveries and complete admissions as part of couplet care model

• May float to Resource nurse role to assist Mother Baby staff with circumcisions, labs, CCHD, car seat studies

• May take neonatal assignment of up to 6 infants when needed

• Navy scrubs required with navy undershirts; scrub jackets optional but must be navy

• Use MEDITECH charting system

• Holiday rotation with core staff

• No call or standby requirements

• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

The facility follows AWHONN staffing guidelines and maintains 24/7 neonatology provider coverage. The NICU partners with a major childrens hospital for consultation services and transfers cardiac and surgical cases when needed. The facility emphasizes a couplet care model where NICU nurses also attend deliveries and handle admissions, creating a comprehensive perinatal care approach.
