Description
The Assistant City Attorney I provides a wide range of professional legal services related to municipal government operations to city departments and various boards and commissions; assists the City Attorney in performing a wide range of duties as assigned.
The Assistant City Attorney II acts as principal counsel to provide a wide range of professional legal services related to municipal government operations to city departments and various boards and commissions; assists the City Attorney in performing a wide range of duties as assigned.
Principal Duties Assistant City Attorney I:- Law Degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Knowledge of civil and criminal law.
- Excellent understanding of legal research and writing.
- Member in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred:
Prior legal practice experience in municipal law or related field.
- Law Degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Three (3) years of recent municipal or other governmental law experience.
- Excellent understanding of legal research and writing.
- Knowledge of the principals of municipal law, including ordinances, resolutions, claims liability, employment, police civil liability, contracting, planning and zoning laws, land use, real estate, public finance and/or public utilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Member in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
Preferred:
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a Texas city attorney’s office.
