Overview
Position: Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator
Location: Baylor Scott and White, College Station
Shift: Full-time Nights - 3 12 hours shifts with Rotating Weekends.
Departments: Medical Surgical, ICU, IMCU, Telemetry
Job SummaryThe Patient Care Technician handles various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. Helps deliver patient care and meet family needs. Follows the care plan, considering the patient's age and development stage.
Responsibilities- Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
- Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.
- Provides personal hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.
- Adheres to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
- Performs glucose monitoring and collects specimens as requested.
- Will be required to directly support multiple patients during each shift.
- Tracks and reports quality data for the unit.
- Completes and maintains files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assigns phones and location devices to appropriate staff members.
- Maintains inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies and equipment in the work area.
- Greets visitors and provides assistance.
- Answers telephones and communicates with the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, and cell phones, based on department needs.

- Communication – Clear communication with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing.

- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
