Under general supervision of the City Engineer, the Engineer I / II is responsible for assisting in providing professional engineering services in connection with traffic operations, safety and mobility for the City of College Station.
Required:
Engineer I
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or closely related field and four (4) to six (6) years of civil engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire.
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO’s) A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to be available for after-hour emergency response and/or availability for occasional after-hour duties which may include game-day operations, neighborhood meetings, City Council meetings, or other events.
Engineer II
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or closely related field and six (6) to eight (8) years of civil engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire.
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO’s) A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to be available for after-hour emergency response and/or availability for occasional after-hour duties which may include game-day operations, neighborhood meetings, City Council meetings, or other events.
Preferred: Master's degree in civil engineering or closely related field
Experience in municipal government.
Demonstrated knowledge of traffic management technology and transportation systems
Demonstrated public speaking abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Drug Screening: Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
