Pharmacology-Nursing Instructor – West Palm Beach, FL

Position Summary:

Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. This includes working with the Associate Director of Nursing over the assigned cohort, the Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of assigned courses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Full‑time faculty must become ATI Champions within 90 days of hire.
  • Prepare course plans and materials.
  • Deliver course lectures, facilitate labs, and/or clinical rotations.
  • Monitor equipment and supply needs and maintain the classroom.
  • Seek an approved substitute in case of faculty member’s absence.
  • Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).
  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.
  • Work on retention plans and program development.
  • Attend staff and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in committees and knowledge‑sharing forums.
  • Facilitate student engagement.
  • Direct and assess student progress in achieving theoretical (cognitive) and performance (psychomotor and affective) requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and follow up as needed.
  • Provide weekly feedback reports to the ADON, DON, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Group Campus President/Chief Operating Officer.
  • Maintain required licensures, certifications, and paperwork for personnel file.
  • Maintain a minimum of eight (8) continuing education units (CEUs) annually.
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations and use feedback to improve delivery.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.
  • Comply with all governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Academic credentials sufficient for the discipline and appropriate for the faculty level, with at least 50% of faculty holding a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient teaching skills and efficient management of clinical and skills lab activities.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage people and projects.
  • In‑depth knowledge of course content and educational theory and techniques.
  • Willingness to uphold high ethical standards.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN or equivalent) – required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN or equivalent) – preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license issued by Florida Department of Health – required.
  • Active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association – required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.
Workload Expectations
  • Dependent on faculty classification; full‑time faculty must teach a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Faculty must attend meetings, participate in accreditation and serve on committees.
  • Faculty must start and end on time for assigned courses, clinicals, and lab hours.
  • Faculty must obtain prior approval from the ADON/DON for overtime assignments.
  • Teaching is in face‑to‑face contact with students, including didactic instruction, clinical/off‑site or on‑site patient care, and lab/simulation experiences.
Compensation

$45–$50 per hour, plus eligibility for annual merit‑based salary increases.

Physical Demands

Typical office and academic teaching environment. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Working Environment
