Job Description & How to Apply Below

Overview

Every Tuesday night, something remarkable happens in an arena on the campus of the largest university in America. Thousands of college students gather to hear the Gospel. It’s been happening for nearly four decades… and it’s a miracle every time.

Our vision is simple and audacious: any and every student taking their first or next step with Jesus.

It’s audacious to say the goal is to reach all 80,000 enrolled at Texas A&M. But this is the mission God has entrusted to Breakaway — and we’re all in.

The Opportunity

Breakaway is in a season of growth, momentum, and spiritual responsibility. God is at work, and the story He is telling here deserves to be stewarded with clarity, creativity, and faithfulness.

We are looking for a high-capacity ministry creative who is ready for a bigger seat at the table — someone who has proven themselves faithful with smaller scopes and now senses God inviting them into greater influence and ownership.

This role is for someone who doesn’t just execute ideas, but helps shape direction, build systems, and form culture — all in service of the Gospel and the next generation.

The Role

The Creative Marketing Director serves as Breakaway’s chief storyteller and strategic communicator.

This is a director-level role with broad ownership and meaningful influence. You will steward how Breakaway is experienced across platforms — visually, narratively, and culturally — while remaining grounded in the day-to-day realities of ministry and discipleship.

You will function as a player–coach: capable of hands-on creative work as needed, while also leading teams, building systems, and empowering others to flourish.

This leader works closely with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff, and carries real trust, responsibility, and voice in shaping Breakaway’s creative direction and future trajectory.

What You’ll Own

You will be ultimately responsible for the vision, quality, and effectiveness of all Breakaway creative and communication efforts, including:

  • Setting and executing Breakaway’s creative and communication strategy across platforms
  • Visioning and leading creative campaigns from idea to execution
  • Telling stories that inform, inspire, and mobilize students and donors
  • Guarding and stewarding the Breakaway brand with clarity and excellence
  • Overseeing all social media efforts, including launch campaigns, humorous content, and student engagement
  • Providing quality control across all creative outputs
  • Evaluating success and refining systems so creative work can scale sustainably

You won’t be expected to do everything yourself — but you will be responsible for ensuring everything gets done with excellence and faithfulness.

How You’ll Lead & Build

This role exists at the intersection of ministry, creativity, and leadership.

You will:

  • Lead a team of student volunteers and contract creatives (video, photo, design, social, merch, marketing)
  • Likely oversee a part-time Resident, and help shape the future structure of the creative team
  • Delegate wisely, build repeatable workflows, and bring clarity to creative processes
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director on vision, priorities, and cultural goals
  • Build a creative culture that is spiritually grounded, relationally healthy, and joyfully excellent
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here

This role is a strong fit for someone who:

  • Has meaningful experience in ministry-based creative work and is ready for greater scope
  • Thinks strategically but still enjoys hands-on creative contribution
  • Can propose ideas, fill gaps, and translate vision into executable plans
  • Loves developing people and creating environments where creatives flourish
  • Cares deeply about prayer, the spiritual formation of college students, and preparing for a move of God
  • Is organized, accountable, and able to lead without burning people out
Bonus Points If You…
  • Already love A&M, or are willing to drink the maroon Kool-Aid
  • Have helped build or scale creative systems in a ministry context
  • Experiment with branding, creative workflows, and AI tools
  • See this role not just as a job, but as a calling
Why This Role Matters

This role exists to proclaim the gospel on a large public university campus — and beyond.

To steward a story God is already telling.

To shape culture with wisdom and courage.

To invite a generation into what God is doing.

If you sense God is preparing you for greater responsibility, greater opportunity, and greater impact, we would love to hear from you.

How to Apply

Please email the following to director:

  • Your resume
  • Examples of your creative work
  • This could include a portfolio link, social media accounts, videos, designs, campaigns, or other relevant projects.
  • A short video (3 minutes or less) introducing yourself

In the video, please share:

  • A bit about your faith and walk with Jesus
  • Your creative and ministry experience
  • Why this role at Breakaway excites you

We’re less interested in polish and more interested in clarity, conviction, and calling.
