POSITION & BENEFITS:

Middle School Teacher

FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Position: 8 hours per day, 187 days per school year (10 months)
Salary: $57,482 - $111,588 (this is 25-26 schedule as IPD isn't released yet)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate including appropriate endorsements.
* Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse.
ADDITIONAL
SKILLS:
* Successful experience as a Math Teacher
* Secondary Education experience
* Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful. District tests to verify skill levels.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum and State Standards.
* Familiarity with a wide variety of techniques and materials, which may be used in teaching students in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Directors and other appropriate learning activities.
* Exhibit strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies.
* Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve an environment conducive to learning.
* Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude and interest.
* Evaluate student's academic, social, and emotional growth, using a variety of authentic assessment techniques, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
* Possess the ability to use computers for instruction and assessment.
* Display humor and positive regard to students and colleagues.
* Show the ability to utilize and evaluate interpretive feedback.
* Present a positive attitude about change and an eagerness to implement changes that will enhance student learning.
* Bring experience teaching middle school math and a commitment to developing both academic skills and student confidence.
* Demonstrate strong mathematical proficiency and the ability to foster a positive growth mindset in students, especially those who experience math anxiety.
* Build students' confidence through patient instruction, balancing new content with foundational review to support struggling learners.
* Create an engaging classroom environment where high expectations are clearly communicated, respectfully upheld, and paired with encouragement and celebration.
* Maintain strong classroom management skills, effectively supporting large class sizes while protecting instructional time and holding clear, respectful behavioral boundaries.
* Be relational with students, kind and relatable, while remaining self-confident and steady in leadership.
* Show flexibility, curiosity, and a willingness to ask questions, advocate appropriately for personal and professional needs, and continuously refine practice.
* Demonstrate buy-in to school systems and expectations, contributing as a long-term, invested member of the team.
* Collaborate actively within the math department and across grade levels, contributing to shared planning, innovative instructional strategies, and collective student success.
* Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
* Differentiate instruction to meet a variety of learning styles and abilities.
* Exhibit a growth mindset for both self and students, remaining open-minded and willing to try new ideas.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
