Travel:
This position will involve assignments at various locations as determined by business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to different sites as required. Travel may include local or regional assignments, with applicable travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
Our compassionate Registered Nurse will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively in a supportive environment that values empathy, professionalism, and continuous learning to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine mental health needs and formulate appropriate care plans.
- Administer medications and monitor their effects, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment regimens.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver cohesive care.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for patients experiencing acute episodes of mental illness.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed to reflect changes in patient condition.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and support groups to promote patient interaction and recovery.
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review patient cases and develop integrated care approaches.
- Advocate for patient needs and rights within the healthcare system and community resources.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in behavioral health nursing and integrate evidence-based practices into patient care.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing students and junior staff within the behavioral health unit.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Bachelor’s or associate's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health or psychiatric settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred - Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, treatment modalities, and crisis intervention techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to handle stressful and emotionally charged situations with professionalism
- Understanding of legal and ethical standards in behavioral health nursing
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
- May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance.
- Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity are essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required.
- Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties.
- Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit.
- May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential.
- Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team.
- Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes is a possibility.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical schedule.
