Position Summary
A Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of licensed personnel, performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for a patient or a group of patients and performs clerical/receptionist services as required. Responsible for working a combination of nights, weekends, and holidays.
Location: Coldwater Regional Hospital
Department: Acute Care
Position Summary
The PCT will assist nursing/medical personnel in all areas while complying with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice in conjunction with all members of the healthcare team. Understands level of independent practice and performs specific duties with appropriate supervision. Demonstrates professionalism and understands/abides by Insight’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Accountabilities
- Provides age-appropriate patient care, coordinated by licensed personnel.
- Collects patient data, reports changes or deviations to licensed nursing staff, including vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
- Delivers direct patient care based on patient needs.
- Assists with one-on-one patient observation as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to hospital safety policies while providing customer service and working cooperatively with team members.
- Provides clerical support such as answering phones, stocking supplies, and maintaining charts.
- Demonstrates competency in electronic medical record documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR certification prior to direct care, training provided.
- Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to follow verbal instructions.
- Computer literacy for data input and retrieval.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical setting.
- Certifications such as CNA, STNA, MA, EKG, CPT, ARRT.
Working Conditions
- Use of PPE as required.
- Ability to move around hospital, stand for long periods, and lift light to medium weights.
- Tolerance to exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, blood, and bodily fluids.
