Sanitation Supervisor

About the Role

As a Sanitation Supervisor, you will function as a driving force behind the plant's cleanliness and safety compliance during the afternoon shift. You will hold discretionary decision-making power regarding the strategic implementation of safety compliance, departmental budgeting and regulatory adherence. You will manage an essential function of the organization, ensuring the facility meets rigorous federal USDA standards, and will exercise direct control over the sanitation workforce and subordinate team leads.

Responsibilities
  • Department Direction and Personal Management
    • Exercise full managerial authority over the department personnel, including the authority to interview, hire, and recommend promotions for subordinate employees.
    • Direct and Control Daily operations, managing the organization structure and workflow to ensure maximum operational efficiency during the afternoon shift.
    • Develop and Administer performance standards. Conduct formal performance reviews and implement professional development plans for subordinate staff.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Strategic Policy
    • Formulate and implement standard operating procedures for plant wide sanitation to ensure strict compliance with federal regulations and corporate safety protocols.
    • Regulatory Liaison:
      Maintain professional communication with USDA representatives and chemical suppliers.
    • Operational Management:
      Manage the inventory and usage of sanitation products, oversee the departmental budget, and administer company policies fairly and equitably.
    • Communication:
      Promote goodwill and positive morale through proactive team communication and involvement.
    • Audit Management:
      Perform daily safety audit on LOTO procedures.
    • Policy Enforcement:
      Review chemical usage logs and safety data to ensure strict adherence to federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Operational and Budgetary Management
    • Manage the departmental budget:
      Manage the inventory and usage of sanitation products, oversee the departmental budget, and administer company policies fairly and equitably.
    • Cost Control:
      Monitor overtime usage and chemical usage, implementing policies to reduce departmental operating costs.
  • Executive Communication and Training
    • Enforce Training:
      Regarding chemical safety and equipment handling, ensuring the workforce is skilled in proprietary sanitation methodologies.
    • Report Directly to Sanitation Manager:
      Regarding the sanitary status of the facility, providing opportunities of process improvement and labor management.
What You’ll Need

We are looking for an individual with a strong foundation in sanitation practices and supervisory principles.

  • Education:

    High School Diploma/GED;
    College Degree in related field preferred.
  • Managerial

    Experience:

    1 or more years of previous managerial experience with leadership skills of 20+ employees preferred. Considerable knowledge of sanitation procedures and management practices;
    Poultry or food industry experience is a plus.
  • Specialized Industry Knowledge:
    Knowledge of USDA Regulations, HACCP Principles and proprietary sanitation procedures specific to the poultry food industry.
  • Skills:

    High level proficiency in budget management, regulatory negotiation, effective communication both orally and in writing, capable of independent decision-making, proficient in MS Office software applications, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Somali skills preferred.
