Overview
East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Maria Clinic (HIV clinic). The closing date is 08 February 2026.
The Maria Clinic provides care for people living with HIV. The clinic has 1.0 GUM/HIV consultant and 1.0 HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist. HIV service is under the Women and Children Division, ESNEFT. The Maria Clinic is co-located with Essex Sexual Health Service, providing seamless service including Sexual Health and Contraception. The HIV service has a close clinical network with the North East London HIV Network for clinical advice and works with Essex HIV Support, providing community support and advocacy for patients.
We currently provide care and support for a cohort of about 450 clients.
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge of HIV and clinical immunology.
- Demonstrate Level 1 and 2 competence in STI screening.
- Competent in understanding the pharmacology of Highly Active Antiretroviral treatment (HAART).
- Develop competence in PGDs relevant to clinical practice.
- Be responsible for HIV AIDS Reporting System (HARS) and ensure timely completion and submission of HARS reports.
- Undertake clinical work that includes face-to-face consultations and telephone consultations.
- Undertake clinical work that includes venepuncture and administration of vaccination.
- Guide and support patients with psycho-social needs.
- Guide and support patients with newly diagnosed HIV as well as stable patients.
- Participate in audit and other quality improvement initiatives.
- Support prescribing of patients if within current scope.

Person SpecificationQUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- Registered Nurse with recent Acute Care experience
- Post registration experience in HIV in/out patient care
- Completion of Specialist course in HIV care, i.e. Nurses HIV National Association (NHIVNA) competencies
- Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) or desire to work towards prescribing
- Knowledge of current British HIV Association (BHIVA) and British Association for Sexual Health and HIV guidelines
- Knowledge of common Sexually Transmitted Infections and Blood Borne Viruses
- Experience or commitment to work towards gaining competency in administering injectable antiretroviral drugs
