Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Join Our Rail Team in Colchester – Fitter Wanted!
Ready to put your mechanical skills to work on something truly exciting? We’re looking for a Fitter to join our Rail team at the Colchester depot – and this could be your chance to make a real impact!
In this hands‑on role, you’ll be the driving force behind keeping our On‑Track Machinery (OTMs) in top condition. From maintenance to repairs, you’ll ensure our equipment runs smoothly and safely – because when it comes to rail, reliability matters.

- 13‑week rotating shift pattern (includes weekends and nights – approx. 1 in 5 night shift)

- Carrying out maintenance and repairs on OTMs to company standards and deadlines
- Diagnosing faults and delivering effective, first‑time fixes
- Producing clear reports on faults, repairs, maintenance, and incidents
- Ensuring OTMs are reliable and ready for action after servicing
- NVQ Level 3 in mechanics or a similar field
- Ability to work to timescales and deadlines
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety
- Previous plant or vehicle maintenance experience (desirable, but not essential)
- No rail experience? No problem – we’ll provide all the training you need
