LGC ASSURE is offering an exciting 13-month Student Placement opportunity in Fordham, Cambridgeshire
.
Our Sports & Specialised Analytical Services business specialises in banned substance and anti-doping testing, working across key areas like human drug testing, animal sports medication, and supplement certification.
Join us in the Human Drug Testing team to gain hands‑on experience and learn from industry leaders!
This placement is within the Human Drug Testing Team which forms part of LGC’s Sport and Specialised Analytical Services (SSAS) department located in Fordham. Primary activities include the analysis of drugs of abuse from a wide range of matrices, including blood, hair, fingerprints and urine. Human Drug Testing is a rapidly growing area of science for LGC.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain industry experience and work alongside our industry leading scientists in our ISO accredited laboratories. You will gain a wide range of practical laboratory skills which are supported by our in‑house training.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will be working to ISO 17025 quality systems and working alongside our experienced scientists you will be involved in routine sample analysis and method development.
- You will be using a variety of sample preparation and detection techniques including SPE, LLE, GCMS/MS and LC‑MS/MS (including High Resolution Accurate Mass technology) to detect and identify a wide range of prohibited substances.
- In addition to routine screening services, there may also be opportunities to be involved in project work.
What we need from you:
- Studying towards a Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related subject
- Conscientious and meticulous in laboratory work
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Team player, able to work flexibly with initiative
