Job Summary

We are looking for a vibrant, confident person to join the team to help deliver a high quality service in the Cardio-Respiratory Department based at Colchester Hospital. This role will be a job share, working days will be Monday 8:30 – 16:30 and Tuesday 8:30 – 17:00.

This is a fixed‑term position until 31.3.26.

In this role, you will be providing administration support to a team of Consultants, Technicians and other healthcare professionals. You must have excellent communication skills with attention to detail and high level organisational skills. You will need to have the ability to work on your own initiative and you must be able to remain calm in difficult situations.

Please note you will be required to work as part of the administration team and provide cross cover when necessary.

Main duties of the job

Provide an efficient administrative and day‑to‑day support service to the department and coordinate all pacing clinics within the department and outside areas, i.e. Clacton & District and Harwich & District. This includes the booking of appointments, typing of correspondence, documents, dealing with different enquiries, dealing with patients' records and other general office administration duties.

Person Specification Essential
  • GCSE grade 5/C or equivalent in English and Maths
  • NVQ level 3 in administration/secretarial or equivalent experience
  • Previous administrative role
  • Experience of database systems
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Advanced IT Systems including Microsoft Office
  • Experience of communicating with a range of people both within and external to the organisation
