Ambrose Avenue Group Practice in Colchester is a friendly and welcoming GP practice and are currently seeking a respiratory nurse to join our team. Working across our two sites, Ambrose Avenue and Tollgate, this is a full‑time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week over five days. The successful applicant must have experience with asthma and COPD.
Responsibilities- Undertake health assessments, administer medication and treatments, and perform diagnostic tests.
- Provide and evaluate a range of health interventions to ensure that patients' health and social care needs are met.
- Promote general health and well‑being and create individual, person‑centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long‑term condition.
- Run asthma and COPD clinics and reviews.
- Manage and treat long‑term conditions, in line with national and local policies and practice needs.
- Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, according to evidence‑based practice and national practice protocols; work with patients to support adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately, including initiating effective emergency care in complex, urgent or emergency situations.
Ambrose Avenue Group Practice is a friendly, long‑established, award‑winning, progressive GP practice. We are based over two surgery sites within 10 minutes of each other, serving the population of Stanway and Pretty gate in Colchester, Essex. We are a training practice and offer services to a population of over 14,500 patients. The clinical team consists of eight GPs, a GP trainee, four advanced nurse practitioners, three nurses, two healthcare assistants, and various allied health professionals, including a GP assistant, health and wellbeing coach, clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technicians, care coordinator, social prescriber and care advisor.
We hold monthly meetings and training sessions and have a diverse team of clinicians, including first‑contact physio, pharmacists, ANP/NP, care coordinator, social prescriber, health coach, GP assistant and an award‑winning team of mental health workers.

Essential Experience- Knowledge and experience supporting long‑term conditions.

- A relevant nursing degree.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Competence to undertake asthma and COPD, holding relevant certificates.
