Shift Leader (Care) - Nights and Weekends

Permanent, Full Time (36 hours per week). Working pattern: nights and weekends.

Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not‑for‑profit charity dedicated to delivering excellent, family‑feel care for older people. New Copford Place is a residential care home located in Copford on the outskirts of Colchester, Essex. The role is an opportunity to support residents in living fulfilled lives, whether for residential stays or short‑term respite.

• Deliver person‑centred care and support residents to maintain skills, interests, independence, choice and dignity.
• Ensure residents’ safety, comfort and well‑being.
• Act as a champion for residents’ safety and dignity.
• Lead the team in providing high‑quality, individualised care in line with procedures and policies.
• Keep clear, accurate records.
• Follow procedures for ordering, administering and dispensing medication.
• Conduct supervisions and appraisals and promote staff development.
• Maintain a safe, clean workplace and follow infection control protocols.
• Adapt to shift patterns that include evenings, weekends and some unsociable hours.

• Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care (Level 3 or higher desirable).
• Experience in a similar role, having led a team and administered medication.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with residents and colleagues.
• Good numerical and digital skills, with the ability to problem‑solve and adapt to situations.
• Awareness of safeguarding and the ability to recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
