Production Test Engineer

Production Test Engineer | Electronics | Colchester | Up to £34,000 | 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

We are recruiting an Electronics Production Test Engineer to join a well-established engineering manufacturer in Colchester.

This is a hands-on role focused on testing electronic hardware, including PCB assemblies (PCBAs), embedded systems, and finished products within a production environment.

You will work closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to validate products, diagnose faults, and support continuous improvement.

Please note:

this role involves electronic hardware testing and is not a software QA or automation testing position.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

Executing formal test procedures on PCBAs and electronic assemblies
Component-level fault finding, diagnosis, and repair
Producing fault reports to support product improvement
Maintaining test records in line with ISO 9001 procedures
Creating and operating Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
Supporting new product introduction and validation
Collaborating with R&D, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues

What We're Looking For

HNC / HND / ONC in Electronic or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience in electronic test within manufacturing or R&D
Strong fault-finding skills to component level
Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and electronic test equipment

Experience with PCBAs and electronic assemblies
Knowledge of ISO 9001 or IPC standards

Desirable:

RF or microwave testing experience

Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
