Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally? We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader to join a supportive SEN School located in Colchester, Essex, starting as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on pastoral provision for students with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.
  • Develop and implement behaviour support strategies and personalised intervention plans.
  • Provide day-to-day mentoring, emotional support, and guidance to pupils.
  • Support safeguarding and wellbeing across the school.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and engagement, taking proactive steps where required.
  • Build strong working relationships with families and external professionals.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture.
Requirements
  • Experience with in a pastoral, behavioural, or safeguarding role (SEN or educational settings preferred).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and emotional support practices.
  • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and solution-focused, particularly when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people with SEN.
