38.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only) plus 3 training days during school holidays
We are working with a specialist SEN autism Primary School in Colchester that is seeking a dedicated KS1 Teacher to join their nurturing and highly supportive team. This Colchester school provides outstanding support for pupils with autism and complex needs, focusing on building independence, confidence, and communication skills in a safe learning environment.
This KS1 Teacher role in Colchester provides the opportunity to work with small groups of learners, delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual needs. The school has a strong multidisciplinary team including occupational therapy and speech and language specialists, ensuring every KS1 Teacher receives the support and resources needed to help students thrive.
Job Overview:
* Uphold the Teachers' Standards and maintain high professional conduct.
* Follow school policies while setting high expectations for pupils and staff.
* Deliver high-quality education and care for pupils with autism.
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
* Support pupils' personal, social, and independence skills.
* Provide appropriate challenge within a safe and nurturing environment.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
* Manage the day-to-day organisation of the classroom, including supervision during breaks.
* Follow the autism accreditation framework to ensure effective support.
* Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.
What we're looking for:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Have completed an undergraduate degree.
* Experience in special educational needs (SEN) or relevant training/qualifications in special education is desirable.
* Strong understanding of SEN, particularly supporting children with developing communication skills.
* Previous experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities within an educational setting.
* Most importantly, you will demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
