1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant | Colchester | Immediate Start

Do you have the calm in the middle of a storm? Can you look past a "difficult" moment to see the child who needs a mentor? Are you a natural communicator who can de‑escalate a situation with a kind word or a clever distraction? If you believe that every child deserves a champion – someone who won’t give up on them when things get tough – then you are exactly who we are looking for.

The Role Overview

Located in the historic heart of Colchester
, our school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant
. You will be assigned to a specific student (KS1 or KS2) who requires additional emotional and behavioural guidance to access the curriculum. This isn’t just a “TA role”; it is a mentorship position where you will build a deep, trusting bond to help a child navigate their school day successfully.

What's in it for You? (The Benefits)
  • Competitive Daily Rate: £85 - £105 per day (depending on experience).
  • Specialist Training: Full access to Pivotal de‑escalation training and ADHD/Autism awareness workshops.
  • Supportive Environment: You won’t be "on your own" – you’ll work closely with an experienced SENCO and an inclusive teaching team.
  • Consistent

    Hours:

Term‑time only (Monday‑Friday), allowing for an excellent work‑life balance.
  • Permanent Opportunities: Many of our 1:1 roles lead to permanent school contracts for the right candidate.
Your Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support, helping the student stay engaged with classroom tasks.
  • Implement bespoke Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans.
  • Act as a "bridge" between the student and their peers, fostering social inclusion.
  • Create a "calm zone" or use sensory breaks to prevent over stimulation.
  • Record progress and triggers, providing vital feedback to teachers and parents.
What We Need From You
  • Resilience: A thick skin and a heart of gold are essential.
  • Experience: Previous work with children, youth coaching, or SEN support is highly desirable.
  • Personality: You must be patient, firm but fair, and able to remain professional under pressure.
  • Commitment: Consistency is key for our students; we need someone reliable.
  • DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
Make Your Impact Today!

This student is waiting for a consistent, positive role model to help them succeed. Don’t wait for the "right time" – the right time is now. Apply today and start changing a life.
