Overview
Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) is seeking two Specialty Doctors in General Adult to join the mental health team at the Colchester Specialist CMHT, Herrick House, Colchester. The role involves working with a dedicated medical team to deliver high-quality psychiatric care across the community in the North East Essex area. There are two vacancies available.

Main duties of the jobThis Specialist CMHT provides community mental health services for patients referred to secondary mental health services by GP surgeries within the Neighbourhood teams in and around Colchester. The team serves approximately 67,000 people in this area. The Colchester team has a total of 4 Consultants who jointly support the team, dividing the catchment via GP practices that overlap with PCN footprint.
The MDT includes CPNS, Occupational Therapists, social workers and psychologists.
You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at the time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

Conduct out-patient assessments and reviews for patients in the patch.
Attend MDT meetings twice weekly.
Attend Allocations meetings as required.
Carry out home visits.
Attend to urgent clinical issues for patients.
Administrative work related to these activities.
Supervise and support Trainee Doctors where appropriate.
Work closely with primary care nurses (PCN workers).
Work with Multidisciplinary team.
Person specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- At least 3 years experience working in Psychiatry
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job and specialty
- Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
- Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job
- Experience of working within Adult Psychiatry
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.
