Overview
We are looking for an efficient, conscientious, well-motivated, enthusiastic Diabetic Failsafe Officer, with the skills to provide dedicated admin support to both the clinical and administrative teams to the Ophthalmology department. The role is Fixed Term/Secondment until 31 March 2026; current ESNEFT employees will be offered on a secondment basis.
The primary function of this role revolves around the provision of day-to-day admin management of the service. It is essential to help and support all members of the team by having a flexible approach to workload, additional tasks and working patterns. Flexibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure are key requirements for this role. The Ophthalmology department is very busy, so you must be able to work under pressure.
You will be responsible for working independently providing a full range of administrative support and therefore must be highly organised and able to prioritise a busy workload.

Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day admin management for the Ophthalmology service and support both clinical and administrative teams.
- Act as the main point of contact for the Diabetic Failsafe Officer and handle communications with the public and professionals; demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Utilise exception database skills and demonstrate proven IT experience within a healthcare setting.
- Be flexible in workload management, assist with additional tasks, and adapt to changing working patterns.
- Work independently to provide a full range of administrative support; prioritise a busy workload and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with the public and professionals.
- Proven IT experience and ability to use relevant databases; experience with exception databases is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload.
