Lab Technician – Steel Casting Foundry

Roles & Responsibilities :

- Supervise day-to-day melting operations to ensure timely availability of molten metal as per production plan.
- Monitor and control induction furnace operations, charge mix preparation, melting parameters, and tapping practices.
- Ensure correct chemical composition by coordinating with the laboratory for sample testing and adjustments.
- Conduct chemical, mechanical, metallurgical, and sand testing (including raw and foundry materials) to support steel casting quality control.
- Maintain adherence to melting schedules, heat-wise records, and process discipline.
- Ensure compliance with safety practices, operating procedures, and foundry standards during melting operations.
- Coordinate with molding, pouring, quality, and maintenance teams for smooth production flow.
- Monitor furnace performance, power consumption, yield, and downtime, and take corrective actions as required.

Qualifications

- Diploma / ITI in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Foundry Technology or a related discipline.
- Relevant supervisory experience in steel casting foundry Lab operations.
- Same manufacturing experience:
Candidates with prior experience in manufacturing organizations engaged in steel castings or similar heavy engineering products will be preferred.

Skills

- Strong knowledge of steel melting processes, charge calculation, and chemical composition control.
- Hands-on experience in induction furnace operation and heat-wise monitoring.
- Basic understanding of foundry metallurgy and defect prevention related to melting.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Problem-solving ability under production pressure.

Salary range: ₹12,000 – ₹25,000 per month (based on experience and skill level).
