GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Manager of Respiratory Therapy is a professional Respiratory Therapist who leads CRMC's Respiratory Care department by increasing clinical aptitude in promoting an environment of patient-focused quality, learning, and collaboration. This individual will be a working supervisor who assesses and treats patients with both acute and chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system in collaboration with physicians and care providers to coordinate the best plan of care for the patient.
JOB DUTIES:
- Schedule staff appropriate for census and reconcile employee time report
- Perform competency evaluation, performance appraisals, employee engagement, recognition, and corrective action activities, as necessary
- Prepare and monitor unit budget
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions for respiratory conditions
- Evaluate and assess patients' respiratory needs to develop an appropriate care plan in accordance with approved protocols or by consulting with and making recommendations to physicians
- Evaluate and assess patients' ventilator needs, utilizing appropriate modes, ventilators, and technology, both invasive and non-invasive in accordance with approved protocols or by consulting with and making recommendations to physicians
- Accurate document therapy and medications administered, including pre and post assessment of therapy, diagnostic testing results, patient interventions, and physician communications
- Assure accuracy of patient charges by correct documentation
- Assist with equipment care and maintenance, cleaning and disinfection/sterilization, reassembly, and functional checks
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
- The Manager of Respiratory Therapy assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common, specific, and technical journals
- Accurate clinical assessment skills regarding the patient's medical condition
- Knowledge of respiratory principles and procedures
- Computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook, and Meditech, preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, required
- Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care, required
- Current licensure with the State of Kansas, required
- 3+ years' Respiratory Therapist experience required
- BLS, ACLS and PALS, required
- Two years' supervisory experience, preferred
- Critical care experience in hospital setting, preferred
