Join the Fred Meyer team as a Produce Clerk
We are looking for a dedicated Produce/Clerk to deliver a customer‑focused experience in Portland, Oregon. As part of the Kroger Family, you will help establish and maintain a safe, clean environment, assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, and uphold quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and uphold the Customer 1st strategy.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment to encourage repeat visits.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales, profit, and quality assurance targets.
- Follow the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
- Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise; inspect quality and freshness.
- Update product displays, stock merchandises, and ensure temperature logs are maintained.
- Provide assistance to customers, including specials, recommendations, and product knowledge.
- Report product ordering, shipping discrepancies, and safety concerns to management.
- Cooperate in a high‑paced environment, manage conflict, and act with honesty and integrity.
- Follow safety procedures, practice preventive maintenance, and report accidents or potential risks.
- Assist with the preparation of produce platters/trays and inform customers of specials.
- Recruit new team members and serve as a role model for the 3A’s of Friendly: acknowledge, assist, and appreciate customers.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
- Current food handlers permit upon employment.
- Comparable retail experience.
- Second language (speaking, reading, or writing).
- Knowledge of produce products to answer customer questions.
- Experience with preparation of produce platters/trays.
- Strong teamwork and conflict‑resolution skills.
