Role DescriptionKootenai Health is seeking a highly visible, decisive Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations to lead critical hospital‑wide functions that directly impact patient flow, staffing reliability, and throughput. This role provides direct leadership for the Patient Transfer Center and Staffing Office, with strategic oversight of the Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) program through a dedicated supervisor. The Nurse Manager plays a central role in real‑time operational decision‑making and cross‑department coordination across ED, inpatient units, and ancillary services.
WhatYou’ll Lead
- Patient placement and throughput workflows across the hospital
- Staffing Office operations, real‑time staffing decisions, and escalation support
- Patient Transfer Center staff and workflows in partnership with medical leadership
- Oversight and standardization of the PSA program
- Policy alignment, workflow standardization, and operational improvement initiatives
- Strong nursing operations and throughput experience in an acute care setting
- Comfort leading in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with competing priorities
- Ability to balance hands‑on operational engagement with strategic leadership
- Confidence leading teams without multiple layers of supervision
- Exceptional communication, judgment, and calm decision‑making under pressure
- Consistent, reliable workflows across nursing operations
- Strong interdisciplinary partnerships and clear escalation pathways
- Improved throughput and discharge coordination
- Engaged, stable teams supported by visible, embedded leadership
- Primarily Monday–Friday, day shift
- On‑call rotation after orientation
- Occasional hands‑on operational support during surges or staffing gaps
