Maintenance Technician I
* This is a temp position. Length of employment 3-4 months*
Position Summary
Performs preventive and daily routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment, in support of engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Assists maintenance engineers in making repairs to specialized equipment and does not make repairs on own unless qualified to do so
- May perform some carpentry and other related work such as patching and painting
- May perform minor work on electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, and water systems
- Utilizes operational manuals, manufacturer's specifications and blueprints to complete tasks
- Completes daily building rounds and completes appropriate documentation
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1 year facility maintenance experience
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing position
- Typical equipment used in an office job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
- Climbs ladders, balances, kneels, and crouches to make repairs
- Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e. faulty equipment
- Work in confined spaces for short periods of time
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
- Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
- Exposure to infectious wastes
