- Department Perioperative Services - Operating Room
- Schedule/Shift/Hours Full Time - Variable
Assists in the preparation of the Operating Room prior to and during surgical procedures. Cleans and maintains Operating Room and perioperative areas. Ensures adequate inventory of supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in positioning and preparation of patient for surgery as directed
- Strips and makes beds, O.R. tables and stretchers. Disposes of all soiled materials and fluids. Cleans surfaces, floors, lights and all equipment including anesthesia machines
- Performs housekeeping functions, including but not limited to, cleaning corridors and ancillary rooms and emptying trash and linen
- Performs testing of and maintains records for variety of equipment within perioperative area
- Takes inventory of supplies and maintains adequate stock levels. Performs receiving and distribution functions. Checks emergency case carts. Obtains and transports equipment and supplies to rooms as required
- Transports patients, supplies, equipment and specimens as directed
- Attends codes and/or emergencies in all areas
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must successfully complete training program
- Prior experience working in a hospital environment preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively, and follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to be well organized and work under high pressure
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing position
- Must be able to stoop or crouch
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
- Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
- Required to bend
