Ready to LOVE WHERE YOU WORK?Mountain West Bank is seeking an exceptional SBA Loan Assistant for our Small Business Administration team in Coeur d Alene, SBA Loan Assistant will work under general supervision and perform routine duties related to preparing, assembling, and verifying SBA loan documentation. The assistant services borrowers and acts as an assistant to the relationship. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of clerical experience in banking or SBA environments.
We seek applicants with clear communication, strong customer service, excellent manners, and excellent written and grammatical skills.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position requiring availability from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Rate of pay depends on experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Submit appraisal-bid-request to approved appraisers when requested, and engage as needed.
- Order and review loan documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, dates, signatures, etc. Prepare documentation sheets and track items as received. Ensure files are completed in a timely manner. May act as closing agent for loans. Type denial letters and log/maintain denials per regulations.
- Complete and prepare all required SBA loan documents in accordance with SBA policies and procedures.
- File lien perfection documents to ensure timely and accurate lien recording.
- Verify all loan files adhere to Bank and SBA policies, including injection documentation and loan disbursement tracking.
- Scan loan files to core system per Bank procedures.
- Submit loan information and documentation to the SBA Loan Guaranty Processing Center for approval when required.
- Disburse loan proceeds per Bank and SBA procedures.
- Submit department invoices for payment through Flexi Program.
- Track and follow up on maintenance of files, including rate changes, insurance, UCC renewals, financial statements, tax returns, corporate verification of status, and inspections. Distribute rate and payment change notices as appropriate. Coordinate with other departments to service loans.
- Maintain a tickler system to follow up on pending items. Assist Lender with tracking covenants and verify accuracy of statements as received.
- Assist with requesting annual tax returns and financial statements from borrowers when requested.
- Monitor loans serviced to ensure required changes are made and accurate.
- Assist customers and branch personnel with questions or problems concerning SBA loans.
- Complete Branch Checking Account certifications and GL certifications as required.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and OFAC.
- Related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of clerical experience in a banking environment
- Fundamental understanding of banking, accounting, legal or related areas
- Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to maintain quality customer service
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent customer service experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other basic office software
- Prior banking experience
- Fundamental understanding of banking, accounting, legal or related areas
REQUIRED
- Interpersonal skills to meet and deal effectively with the public in a courteous manner with professional discretion
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for quality customer service
- Good math and organizational skills to ensure complete, accurate loan documentation and follow-up
- Ability to operate a calculator and computer and other basic office equipment
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.
