We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator for our Coeur d’Alen, e. This position is primarily responsible for increasing branch referrals and outside sales by generating residential mortgage loans through solicitation of individual borrowers, real estate brokers, builders, and developers. The role takes a residential mortgage loan application and offers or negotiates terms.

This is a full‑time position that requires flexible availability to assist real‑estate customers. All major holidays are paid off, plus a generous paid time‑off and excellent retirement benefits. Pay depends on experience.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for meeting sales volume and goals from internal and external referrals.
  • Develops an annual business plan in conjunction with the Manager detailing activities to exceed sales quota.
  • Attend all sales meetings in the residential lending department and branch.
  • Develop qualified leads through referrals, canvassing, face‑to‑face cold calling, direct mail, and networking with the real‑estate community.
  • Establish and maintain customer referral relationships with realtors, builders, and developers.
  • Maximize all opportunities in the closing process, taking market share from competitors.
  • Identify and build effective networks with other professionals to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain accurate time records (Non‑Exempt position) and adhere to the internal marketing plan.
  • Counsel and pre‑qualify home buyers, complete applications, and obtain all required documents, fees, and lock‑in information in compliance with mortgage regulations.
  • Oversee the loan process, monitor status, and ensure conformity with terms.
  • Collect documentation and communicate loan status to all parties.
  • Prepare handouts, closing‑cost sheets, and rate comparison sheets for realtors and builders (approved by Compliance).
  • Work with the processor to prepare the file for underwriting and provide investor guidelines when applicable.
  • Stay current on mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and industry regulations.
  • Source and develop client relationships and referrals using branch personnel for cross‑selling opportunities.
  • Maintain contact with customers in the market area to ensure high satisfaction.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including BSA, Patriot Act, and OFAC.
About You Required

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of outside sales experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with real‑estate loan customers, regulators, and secondary market contacts.
  • Analytical ability to conduct residential real‑estate analysis and recommend alternatives.
  • Knowledge of mortgage regulatory guidelines (e.g., Truth‑in‑Lending, HMDA, RESPA, ECOA, FDPA).
  • Good knowledge of real‑estate compliance.
Preferred Experience

1. Previous experience in residential and mortgage lending functions.

2. Good knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional procedures.

3. Proficiency in Ellie Mae Encompass Software and ability to learn additional applications.

4. Knowledge of MWB policy, procedures and products.

Work Environment

Must routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared area with moderate noise.
